For
most couples a night out on the town warrants some serious thought.
Attention is placed not only on what to wear, but how to accessorize.
Ladies adorn themselves with shimmering earrings and coordinating
necklaces, while men don their favorite cologne and perhaps a pair
of fancy cufflinks. When it comes to adding that special touch to
a home, however, "accessorizing" takes on a whole new
meaning.
“We provide
‘the icing on the cake’ for your home’s interior,”
says Destin Tree House owner Suzanne Beach. Those fortunate enough
to own a second or third home along the Emerald Coast are often
baffled by the seemingly arduous task of furnishing it. “By
the time the space is filled with designer furniture and made-to-order
draperies, homeowners don’t know where to turn to add character,”
Beach explains. “We offer that something extra to make your
house a true home.”
Destin Tree
House emerged from Beach’s desire to design and market unique
home dÈcor that would add spice to otherwise ordinary rooms.
Beach’s family has lived all over the country, but she’s
happy to have settled in Northwest Florida. “My husband is
a retired pilot, so we were your typical ‘airline family’.
The shop has been open four years now and I couldn’t be happier
doing what I’m doing in Destin.”
The shop showcases
everything from silk accessories to vibrant artwork. Trees that
rise 20 feet in the air are displayed in earth-toned planters, while
colorful floral arrangements sit on marble-topped pedestals for
customers to admire. Birds of paradise, delicate feathers, textured
cones, and wispy grasses form harmonious wholes. Fruits and berries
embellish spectacular wreaths. Each decorative composition appears
so real that it beckons customers to feel for themselves, just to
be sure.
“The caliber
of today’s silk accessories is amazing,” explains Beach.
“The integrity of the material—the hue and the relief—make
each component that much more realistic.” Beach continues:
“Plus, real plants require near-constant care, and no one
likes to come home to wilted houseplants.”
The most popular
feature of Beach’s business is the fact they offer personal
consultations. They arrive at a client’s home—“the
drawing board”—armed with sample arrangements and an
abundance of ideas. “Clients request our custom work most
often,” she notes. “We assess the surroundings—the
color of the walls, the lighting, the furniture—in order to
make recommendations.” Beach and her staff have traveled to
Louisiana, Mississippi, and even as far as North Carolina to please
clients.
Enter the shop
and Beach will most likely greet you with her welcoming smile. You’ll
also see her assistant, Eddie, hard at work on customized pieces
at the back of the store. “We’ve had the pleasure to
employ Eddie for the past three years. He’s passionate about
what he does and I couldn’t do without his help,” she
admits. “It truly is a joy to come to work each day,”
Beach says with heart. “I’m blessed with a wonderful
assistant and the nicest clientele.”
Beach
and her staff are certainly on the go, especially during the holidays.
“We participate in the annual Emerald Coast Parade of Homes
and our work is showcased in several model homes as well. The holiday
season is a busy, busy time for us. We’re on the road a lot
come early December.”
Though the name
“Destin Tree House” implies a somewhat limited inventory,
don’t be fooled. The shop also features vases, lamps, clocks,
scented candles, candelabras, pottery, ceramics, chairs, side tables,
and so much more. Beach emphasizes the variety of goods. She adds,
“If you’re looking for that one-of-a-kind piece to impart
personality to your space, then come see us.”
So, if you’re
the type of person that takes pride in enhancing your look with
gems, charms, or other fashionable ornaments, then you’ll
love adding flair to your home’s dÈcor by shopping
Destin Tree House. “That sums us up nicely,” says Beach.
“We’re like jewelry for your home.”
