Through June 26. Linda Kernick Exhibit at Fort Walton Beach Public Library. Kernick uses water media, oils and papers to create texture and pattern. Her many years of working with schoolchildren inform her work, generating feeling and warmth.

July 1-31. Women’s Art Network Exhibit at Coastal Branch Library presented by Walton County Tourist Development Council and Friends of Coastal Branch Library. The Women’s Art Network is an informal group of women from Okaloosa, Walton and Bay counties. The exhibit features quilts, rugs, ink, stained glass, portraits, landscapes, and figure paintings in watercolor, acrylic, mixed media and pastels. First Friday ArtWalk with Todd Richard at Eileen West Gallery, Seaside, 5-8 p.m. Richard came to painting to express rhythms of the human journey, and he’s been playing music on the West Coast with his band Great All Merge for years. Through July 24. “Apalachicola River: An American Treasure” at Mattie Kelly Arts Center, Niceville. This is the culmination of the work done by five individuals who tell the story of the “big river.” The exhibit shares the history of the people who make their living from the river and deals with the politics and water wars between Alabama, Florida and Georgia. Through photographs and film, the artists—including Clyde Butcher and Richard Bickel—capture the unmarked beauty of the Apalachicola River often unseen by the public. Through Aug. 11. Florida Master Naturalist Coastal Module. The Coastal Module of the Master Naturalist class will be offered Tuesdays. Learn about coastal and marine ecosystems and the wildlife that occupy those areas throughout Florida. This is an interactive exhibit that allows visitors to fill a military supply wagon, try on army uniforms and feel the 30-pound weight of a soldier’s backpack. Visitors will also experience the war through the eyes of two soldiers. Exhibit included in regular museum admission. $5 plus tax for adults, $4.50 plus tax for seniors 55 and older and active military, and $3 plus tax for children 4-17.
