the Indian Temple Mound Museum Lazarus Education Center,
Fort Walton Beach. The exhibit examines the real pirates who swept
across the Gulf of Mexico in the early 19th century and wreaked
havoc on American shipping. Visitors will see artifacts pirates
used and plundered from merchant ships during the era. Made possible

Annual Destin Area Summer Photo Contest. Entries accepted
through Sept. 3. The contest is divided into three categories—family,
beach and harbor/bay photos. Winners in each category and one overall
winner to be selected by the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce Board

package and will be published in the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce’s

Madness Butterfly Festival Photo Contest. In celebration
of the annual monarch butterfly migration through the Navarre area,
the Panhandle Butterfly House will host the 4th Annual Monarch Madness
Butterfly Festival Oct. 8 and 9. The new photo contest is open to
both professional and amateur photographers. Photos of butterflies,
larvae, pupae and/or butterfly eggs may be submitted through Sept.
20. Five entry categories include professional adult, amateur adult
and students (ages 6-10, 11-14, and 15-18). Grand prize winners
